Pinned to Start
Most programs create a shortcut inside the program shortcut folder.
But one can also create a manual shortcut that is pinned to start.
Sometimes this does not work, example Yandex shortcuts.
We try:
- Copy all Yandex shortcuts into a folder on the desktop.
- Remove all Yandex shortcuts from Prgs_C and from !Browser subfolder
- Pin to start again
Shortcuts should appear inside Prgs_C
- If this does not work then copy them manually into Prgs_C
- Move them into the !Browser folder

Some shortcuts do not show.
- Copy the shortcut. This helps when shortcuts do not show despite being in the folder.
- Unpin the shortcut/copy of the shortcut
- Pin to start again

Dropbox Shortcut Folder
The Dropbox main folder contains the list of shortcuts to portable Software.

We currently use
c:\dropbox\portable as installed folder
and
c:\dropbox contains the links/shortcuts

For example this software’s target is set to .exe file in portable folder. Start in is set to shortcut file from outside the portable folder. |

Order program links How to
- Open CM21 https://doc.e-llusion.org/computer/software/installation-base
- Open CM31 https://doc.e-llusion.org/computer/portable/base-software-portable
- Look at names of Software column and Area column
- Move all not ordered software into right folder to be ordered
- Drag and drop to right folder

- 3a) Program Links Computer –> Start Menu for all computers are moved in this folder
- This folder must be ordered one time and all changes will be apply to all other computers
- Of course need to verify if on all Computers is okay
- ——- Programs on Laptop
- 3b) Program Links Laptop –> Start Menu for all laptops are moved in this folder
- This folder must be ordered for all laptops, they are using this folder instead of Start Menu
- Once ordered, changes have to be applied to all other computers automatically

- What do you do when you find new programs?
- Also add them to our tables CM21 if it is installation software
- Do a proposal for the category
- or CM31 if it is Portable Software
- Tell George to review the table, so he confirms

Empty Folder
You might delete the empty folders with Remove Empty Directories, when you move from the existing program link structure to the new one.Advantage: Do not have to delete each one of them. |

| Shortcuts Elite Show Problem here
After installation of new software is complete, Start Menu is broken. New installed software is shown as new folder which mess up our structure. Need to reorder the folders regularly. |

Program Links Laptop Folder
On laptops we use far less software. hence we delete many of them.
This mostly concerns drivers and device software for devices that are not used on the laptop, but possibly also portable software that we do not use.
Trello Regular Task Sync Laptop Shortcuts
Regular Check
- Sync with program links Laptop
- Sync with Total Commander, Commands –> Synchronize Dirs…
- Left Side Choose:
- D:\Sync\!Softwar\(3b) Program Links laptop
- Right Side Choose:
- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
- Sync Left to Right (master to local comp)
- WHAT ABOUT OVERRIDES? –> Overwrite everything as Administrator
- Right to Left: Happen when new software gets installed
- New Software: Put into CM21 (installed SW)
