I’ve just completed in draft a book about economic theory, and your views on it would be of interest to me. Do you think that economic theory is so violative of the findings in empirical economic studies, as to warrant root-and-branch replacement by a new theory, which fits those data? If so, I’ll be happy to email you my draft 120,000-word manuscript, which makes that case, and which presents those data, and the new economic theory, which explains (fits) them. This is a crossover trade/academic work. Its title is “Replacing a False Economic Theory,” and the work is in two parts. Part One explains how economic theory came to be the way it is (violative of the empirical evidence). Part Two presents the new theory, along with references to the empirical economic studies, upon which the theory is based. (I would be open to excluding Part One, which would bring the word-count down to around 80,000, but I think that opening with the narrative Part One would be better, especially for general readers (but perhaps also for professional economists, many of whom are oblivious to some of the important historical facts that made the discipline the way it is). Alternatively, I could send just the opening 16,000 words (of the longer version), which include most of the information that’s provided in a standard book-proposal: book-summary, why the book is important, whom its readers will be, etcetera. I have gotten back some wages but not the main wages I have been seeking. The FWC and AWU have not helped any of the workers get back their stolen wages. The wages lost are around $15 millions which have not been declared to ASEC. A lot of those workers were backpackers from overseas who were not paid the proper wages. Victoria Racing Commission [VRC] is also involved. Here’s what was really happening, esp. at Flemington race track. The wages saved were split up between the CEOs at VRC and CE. The bulk of the wages ended up in the CEOs pockets. There is a Brisbane based cleaning company, formed by an ex CE CEO, trying to get the contract to clean at the Commonwealth games coming in Sydney and Brisbane in 2018. Local councils are aware these companies screw their workers but keep retaining their services anyway. There are other cleaning companies involved, most started by former execs at CE. Some of those companies are gone, but some remain. Regards, Ron One shocking revelation was that the Australian Workers Union bosses: … and a large cleaning company agreed to extend a WorkChoices enterprise agreement, thereby saving the company some $2,000,000 per year it would otherwise have had to pay its casual workers in penalty rates under the relevant Award. In exchange, the cleaning company paid the AWU $25,000 per year and provided lists of 100 bogus ‘members’ – the great majority of whom were unaware that they had been included in these lists … So the union bosses did okay out of the deal but their workers were damaged. In 2014, nearly 42 percent (http://www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/the-top-5-reasons-people-dont-use-their-vacation-days.html/?a=viewall) of Americans neglected to use any of their vacation days. In a nation where we hear a lot about the importance of work-life balance, none of that seems very balanced. I see clients, friends, and family members succumb to the work hard, play never mentality all the time. Heck, I’ve even been guilty of it myself. As a life and career coach, I want to help others seize their days. Instead of going through the motions like each day is an item to be checked off a to do list, I want to help people live fulfilling lives complete with a successful career and happy personal life.
