How to:

• Go to folder that contains duplicate messages
• Use right mouse button
• Execute Remove Duplicates messages
• Choose the messages that are kept and deleted

Expected Functionality: Duplicated messages are deleted

(install with old Thunderbird version –> then you have it inside E:\Thunderbird for any version)

How to Delete Duplicates

When you see that many mails are duplicated then run “Remove Duplicated Mails” with the right mouse button on the folder. Simply choose “Delete Selected” (the default).

The main function of this Add-on is removing duplicated mails. Expected result is to get this message “No duplicates found.”.

• Size is slightly different, one row for one mail

Use latest version of Add-on and configure it right, with right Comparison Criteria.

Go under Add-ons and open settings drop-down.

Different Size / Line Count

• Look for new version of Remove Duplicated Mails
• Configure the Add-on correctly
• Make sure that “Size” is NOT included for Message Comparison

Message Elements Used as Comparison Criteria:

• Author (“From”)
• Recipients (“To”)
• CC list
• Message ID
• Send Time
• Subject
• Folder

Summary:

Video shows why Remove Duplicated Mails, does not work.

Have to work with latest version of extension always. Old versions does not work properly.

The options are updated, but the problem still exist. There is a bug in the software.

What exactly did you test?

Tested with all Comparisons shown on Screen, did not work, maybe they are too stricter. Next row in this page is shown the right configuration of the Add-on and it is using the latest version.

• Compare Date in Seconds
• Compare Line Count
• Why didn’t you test the others? -> this is an old version and screen

Comparison Rules

Remove Duplicate Messages add-on works only with some of comparison rules (shown on image ticked). Other rules are not working at all, when they are clicked and run the add-on to remove duplicate messages, it says that there are no Duplicate messages, but at the same time there are duplicate messages.
